Albizia Camp offers accommodation in safari tents as well as campsites in a peaceful bush camp on a small private game reserve near Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park, KZN. For people who love nature, there is something special about sleeping under canvas with the sounds of the African night surrounding you. If you are one of these people, then Albizia Camp is the perfect place for you to stay.
Safari tents accommodation
We have two new ensuite safari-tents that can accommodate 3 people, just 15 minutes drive from Hluhluwe. Each safari tent has one queen size bed and one single sofa bed (an extra mattress may be added for children). There is a private outdoor shower and kitchen for each tent. These tents have permanent solar power and gas powered hot-water.

Location
Albizia Camp is located in a small private game reserve near Hluhluwe. The camp is positioned on a breezy hilltop with a view towards the west of the surrounding countryside and hills. Our new Safari Tents offer comfortable accommodation approximately 20 minutes drive from Hluhluwe town and just 35 minutes from Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park. See the map at bottom of the page.
Wildlife
The nature reserve has many species of wildlife including giraffes, wildebeest, impalas, zebras, hippos and leopards. The camp is unfenced, so there is a chance to encounter the wildlife inside the camp. The zebras are quite used to people and often come into the campsite. There is a self-guided trail which can be walked during daylight hours and a guide is available for longer guided walks. No walking outside the camp is permitted after dark. At night you can hear much wildlife, including bushbabies, hyaenas and occasionally even lions from across the river in Phinda.
Birdlife
The birdlife at Albizia is incredible; a true birder’s paradise. From thornveld, through savanna and into riverine areas, the reserve covers many ecosystems and consequently many different bird species can be seen including such gems as the African Finfoot. Bring your bird list and see if you can add to it.
Guided walks
You can book a guide for a guided walk (2-3 hours) at R250 per person (minimum 2 people, subject to availability). There is plenty of wildlife and birdlife that may be seen including giraffes, zebras, nyalas, and warthogs.
Camping facilities
There are 6 campsites, each with own ablutions (rustic hot water shower and flushing toilet). These campsites are well spaced for privacy and are situated just a short walk from the central meeting area where there is a basic kitchen, braai facilities and dining area, as well as a communal campfire. The camp has solar lights and gas powered fridges, geysers and cooking plates. Bring your own tent, or we can set up dome tents for you with 2 beds and bedding provided. At this stage we have only 1 site for a caravan or camping trailer. There is no electrical power point at the camp sites.
Peace and Quiet
Albizia is a quiet camp, we do not permit generators in the camp, nor may music be played loudly (unless we are all having a party!). There is no hunting on the property and no firearms or fireworks are permitted to be brought into the camp.
This a place to relax, soak up the sounds of the African bush and enjoy chatting around a campfire under the canopy of stars.

Safari tents – R1200 per night. Peak season R1400 per night. Maximum 3 adults (or 2 adults and 2 children).
Own tent/caravan – R200 per person per night (R100 pp for children under 12 years)
Minimum 2 people per site. Maximum 8 people per site in own tents.
Dome tent supplied – R400 per person per night (each tent sleeps maximum 2-people)
Maximum 4 people per site in 2 dome tents supplied.
A minimum stay may be implemented on holiday weekends or during peak season.
